What is this?
An online Moneypenny Murder Mystery Production is a virtual whodunit in which YOU are a detective who is charged with solving a deadly crime. Events are open to the public and are ticketed. Prior to each production you will be provided with a download pack and a code that will allow you to enter the scene of the crime.
Once you have entered the SOC you will have a limited time in which to search for clues. You will also be invited to submit questions that will be put to the suspects during rounds of live online interrogations.
The event will conclude either when you provide your answer to Who committed the crime, How and Why… or the clock runs out!
If I’m late, can I still play?
Yes. We aim to begin each event at a specific time. However, our online events will always begin with an introduction to the rules of the game and advice on what you may find during the investigation. This introductory video can always be sent to you via a link to watch at leisure.
Please note that your ticket will be for a specific date and the game will have a countdown clock that cannot be stopped; you may restrict your own ability to crack the case by being late.
I need to reschedule my reservation!
If we are able to reschedule your reservation to another performance that suits you we will assist whenever possible. Contact us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org with any issues. Please note that all performances are live and have a maximum capacity of players.
How many people can play at once?
Audience sizes vary. The smallest audience would normally be 10 people but the largest audience has been 400. We tend to limit tickets to 100 connections/households to keep the game lively enough for interaction but not too busy that players voices get lost.
Do I need a reservation?
Yes. Definitely. These events are live and hugely popular. Early booking is advised.
How much does it cost?
The fee for each household/location to play and submit an answer is £15 (+£0.50 booking handling fee)
Is this a haunted house? Or an escape room?
This is a neither a haunted house nor an escape room. However, each investigation does include some spooky goings-on, gruesome clues and adult motives.
We recommend that our events are not aimed at children under 12 unless accompanied by an adult. You will need to collect clues and crack codes/conundrums but we promise we’ll never lock you in!
How long do I have to complete the game?
We normally go live at 19:15hrs BST and begin proceedings from 19:30hrs BST. The Scene of the Crime is open until 22:00hrs and all answers must be submitted before then if you are to be rewarded with a Winning Certificate.
If you choose to stay for 60 minutes you can. If you want to stay longer, until 22:00hrs… you can. You can choose when to exit/close the case at a time that suits you. All you need to do is submit your answer to close proceedings. Immediately after submitting your answer you will be updated to the correct solution to the whodunit – Who? How and Why?
Are there any age restrictions for participants?
Each investigation does include some spooky goings-on, gruesome clues and adult motives. None of the suspect will use swear words likely to offend. Nor is there any nudity in any of the events… sorry if that’s what you’re looking for. We recommend that our events are not aimed at children under 12 unless accompanied by an adult.
Do I have to arrive in advance?
Doors open (or at least, a digital connection goes live) 15minutes in advance of your host introducing the rules of the game and providing the unlock code. We ask players to begin gathering online from 19:15 BST.
What, if anything, should I bring to the game?
We recommend you arm yourself with a pen and some paper prior to joining us. You will be sent an email that will contain a link to the live introduction broadcast (Youtube) and a PDF document that provides some basic evidence about the case.
If you want to dress up we thoroughly invite you to do so. The theme date will be provided in the PDF and we invite you to join us dressed as your favourite detective! During proceedings you are able to send selfie photographs of you in costume and a prize is often awarded for the best dress sleuth!
Do people dress up?
Your role is as the Detective investigating the case. If you would like to dress in suitable attire for the occasion we would appreciate a photograph sent to us via the WhatsApp link provided by the Chief Investigator (Host) during proceedings. People often dress to impress and we have been know it provide a prize for the best dressed detective on occasion! Who knows… that could be you!
Is it scary?
No.. just bloody murder!
But Who committed the crime? How and Why?
Birthday? Anniversary? First date?
Because every Moneypenny Murder Mystery Production is performed with a LIVE cast we are always pleased to provide a player “Shout-Out” as part of the investigation! Just let us know what you’re celebrating and our rogues gallery of suspicious suspects will make a point of name dropping you during the investigation…
